posted September 17, 2018:

Hello to all Central '79 Cobblers !!

We've begun setting up the events for our 40-year class reunion, to be held the weekend of June 28th & 29th, 2019.

The event will be held at the historic Hotel Alex Johnson, 523 Sixth Street in Rapid City.  There's a room block setup with special rates at the hotel (phone 605-342-1210).

Stay tuned for details in the coming weeks and let's start planning ahead for a great time.

See ya there!    Jim Kurtenbach & The Committee

On behalf of the entire class, "THANK YOU" to the following gracious website donors, to date (Dec 2018):

Tom Schultz, Paul Thorstenson, Tim Sime, and "Anonymous"

Amount collected through December 2018:   $245

($863 short of goal)

Dear Cobblers of 1979:

At our 30th reunion, the Class purchased a ten-year subscription for our class website (www.Cobblers79.com).  That subscription expired in 2018.

The reunion committee chose to renew for another decade.  Our website subscription is now valid through October 2028.  The cost for ten years was $929, plus a $179 domain name registration renewal fee.  We continue to offer the website on a "commercial-free" basis, so our site will not have advertisements or pop-ups.  It's OUR website and only registered guests or classmates have access.

We're asking for donations from ALL '79ers to help offset the $1108 cost. Would you consider donating $25 - $100 (or more) to offset this valuable, private, Cobbler-only communication site?

If you'd like to help, send a check to "Class of '79 Website," and mail to PO Box 1276, Rapid City, SD 57709.  We'll announce the donors who've helped out (unless designated "anonymous.")  Donations for the website don't apply to your reunion ticket prices, but any extra money collected will be deposited into the '79ers account for reunion expenses.

The reunion committee's plans are coming along nicely, and you can be assured that our 40th will be as classy and as fun (or more so) than our 30th.

... scroll down for updates as they occur ...

July 2009: The Alma Mater tour  '79ers Teri Bauer and Robin Cline hosted tours of both the old and new CHS buildings.  The tours began at 10 AM on Saturday, July 11, and ended 3 hours later.  Twenty five classmates attended the tours.  We saw, among other things, the old building's (615 Columbus St.) tunnels and, of course, the venerable (80+ years old) auditorium.

July 2009: Harleys & Hotrods The motrcycle run was a great success!  Saturday morning, July 11th, 15 motorcycles and 3 HotRods drove through the Black Hills and terrorized the local tourist communities.  Thanks again to  '79er Kirk Dulany for organizing this reunion event. (See Message Forum topic: Harleys & Hotrods.)

 FINAL PREPARATIONS (posted: June '09)

"Cobblers Converging... '79ers arriving from 30 of 50 states and from around the globe!!"    (RC Journal, 06/20/09)

The Cobblers of '79 are making history!  Pre-registrations and internet "buzz" indicate our 30th reunion attendance will break all known SD high school records.  Your committee is concerned the venue will be unable to accommodate such a crowd of Cobblers, so it looks as though we'll be setting up additional facilities outdoors near the lake.
