Steven Elwood Macy
February 13, 1961 - November 12, 2009
LITTLETON, Colo. — Steven Elwood Macy of Littleton, Colorado, was called home to heaven on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009.
He was born Feb. 13, 1961, in Vermillion, S.D., to Ralph and Lenette Macy. He attended school in Rapid City, S.D., graduating in 1979 from Central High School. Steve graduated from Arizona State University in 1984 with a degree in small business management. Steve was a people person with a wide range of interests. He loved camping, fishing, photography, and tennis. Survivors include his daughter, Ellie, of Littleton; his mother, Lenette Macy of Sioux Falls, S.D.; his sister, Janet and David Carlson of Eden Prairie, Minn.; his brother, Gary Macy of Sioux Falls; his sister, Joan and Dan Pomerenke, Sioux City, Iowa; nieces Jennifer and Al Larson, Jamie and Jonathan Colman, Jill and Brock Pitz, Julie and Jason DeLaRosa and Jessica Pomerenke; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Services were held Nov. 17th in the Denver area.
A family reception will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at 101 W. St. Nicholas in Tea, S.D.

Steve died of a heart attack on Thursday, November 12, 2009. He was 48 years old. Steve's funeral was held on Tuesday, November 17, 2009, in Highlands Ranch, CO.

This has happened to me more than once, but I am sitting here at work and for some reason I feel a need to check the obituaries on the RC Journal website...as I don't get on Facebook or the Cobbler website often...and today I see Steve's obit...I am so sad and shocked! We had written a few e-mails back and forth and of course Steve wasn't able to attend the reunion...he wrote that he would try to attend the next one...my thoughts and prayers go out to his family! He sat behind me in 8th grade Social Studies and we reminisced about those days...he was always a good friend and he will be missed. I guess this is a wake up call that we need to cherish every day as you just don't know what the future holds...Cindy Crooks (White-Chamness)

So shocked and saddened by Steve's death. As Scott Feterl said, Steve was part of my baseball experience with the Diesels. He was a great teammate and ALWAYS encouraged you when things weren't going well.Steve and I also went through confirmation together at Trinity Lutheran church. I still remember Steve having deep spiritual thoughts and questions during that time. He was a guy you could confide in and expect a thoughtful response.
Steve, God bless you and I hope you know how many of the old '79ers are thinking of you.

So sorry to hear about Steve. This was a real shocker when I read it in the RC Journal. Glen & I were wondering what had happened to him. We didn't see Steve at the reunion, but we started talking about confirmation at Trinity and all the good times we had in class. Karen's picture brings back fun memories of some of our pranks. Not us! HA HA! Mark Rudebusch & I talked about this last week. Steve, you are still a great friend and a great person. Thanks for all the laughs. May you rest in Peace! Hello Fellow Cobblers: Ann Zenk, Barb Kopp, and Chuck Kramer attended funeral services held for Steve Macy on Monday, Nov. 16th, 2009. The event was described as a "Celebration of Life," followed by prayers, scriptures, and personal tributes. We offered Steve's family our condolences on behalf of the Cobblers of 1979. Steve passed away in his sleep; hopefully he did not suffer. He'd had a heart condition for some time. Steve was a loving person, and his family reported that he "was called home to heaven on November, 12, 2009." Steve's sisters said they would enjoy hearing from Steve's classmates by e-mail or letter. I just want to thank those who put this website together because without it I would never have touched base with Steve. We were able to share some of our rambling stories which he had many. God Bless you Steve, you left a beautiful memory.John
